COME AS YOU ARE. MOVE AS YOU CAN.
RETURN TO your ROOTS
At The Common Yogi, we return to our roots. With a focus on raw, traditional Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin Yoga.
A slow, steady, breath-led practice that meets you exactly where you are.
-
Hatha is a traditional style of yoga that focuses on gentle physical postures, breathing techniques, and mindful relaxation to support balance in the body and mind.
Originating in ancient India, Hatha Yoga forms the foundation of many modern yoga practices.
-
Ashtanga is a dynamic style of yoga that links breath with a flowing sequence of postures. Developed and popularised in the 20th century by K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, this practice follows a set series of poses performed in a specific order.
In our classes, we incorporate a mixture of Ashtanga-inspired movements to help build strength, flexibility, stamina, and mental clarity while encouraging a deeper connection between body, breath, and mind.
-
Yin is a slow, meditative style of yoga that focuses on holding gentle poses for longer periods of time to encourage deep relaxation and release within the body. Yin Yoga targets the body’s connective tissues such as ligaments, joints, and fascia.
This calming practice helps improve flexibility, reduce tension, and create space for stillness and mindfulness. By slowing down and holding poses for several minutes, Yin Yoga encourages a deeper connection between body, breath, and awareness.

Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy healing practice developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It works with the body’s natural energy to promote relaxation, balance, and overall wellbeing.
Through light touch or hands placed just above the body, Reiki supports the release of energetic blockages and encourages the natural flow of life force energy, helping to restore harmony to the mind, body, and spirit.
ABOUT THE COMMON YOGI.
I’m Jacqueline, the founder of The Common Yogi.
I first found yoga during one of the most challenging periods of my life, while I was struggling with anxiety and depression. Every time I stepped onto my mat, I left feeling just a little bit lighter, a little calmer, and a little more like myself. It wasn't an instant transformation, but over time, yoga became a place where I could breathe, heal, and reconnect with who I am.
That experience sparked a deep love for the practice and inspired me to become a certified yoga teacher. Today, I'm passionate about sharing yoga in its most raw and authentic form, creating a space where everyone feels safe, supported, and welcome, because yoga truly is for every body.
My classes weave together movement (asana), breathwork (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana), offering an opportunity to build strength, find stillness, and reconnect with yourself, both on and off the mat.
More than anything, I hope each person leaves feeling a little better than when they arrived, just as I did all those years ago. Finding the magic within that yoga has to offer.
Honouring my Indian heritage and believing wholeheartedly that yoga should be accessible to everyone, I created The Common Yogi.
Because yoga shouldn't be reserved for the enlightened few. It shouldn't feel intimidating or exclusive.
Yoga should simply be... common.
Reiki Healing
Reiki is a gentle, holistic energy healing practice that works to restore balance in the body, mind, and spirit. By connecting to the universal life force energy that flows through all living things, Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal and promotes a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing.
If you are experiencing emotional or physical challenges, Reiki can offer a nurturing space to pause, reconnect, and begin your healing journey. During a session, energy is channelled through light touch or just above the body, helping to release energetic blockages and encourage the natural flow of energy.
